Senior Associate, J-PAL Latinoamérica y el Caribe

Ivan Brant works as a Senior Policy Associate at the Latin America and Caribbean office of the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL). He is currently responsible for developing partnerships with governments in Brazil, with a special focus on social protection.

He used to work for years in the corporate sector, with experience in the financial sector and multinational companies, but in 2016, he redirected his career towards positive social impact. Prior to joining J-PAL in 2024, he led the expansion of integral education in brazilian public schools for students in junior high school at Instituto Sonho Grande. As a consultant for the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) between 2016 and 2022, he coordinated educational projects for Latin America and the Caribbean, including a technical cooperation for equitable and efficient allocation of educational resources with the Department of Education of Pernambuco (SEE-PE). 

Ivan holds a Master's degree in Public Policy from Insper, a lato sensu specialization in Educational Policies and Innovation from Fundação Joaquim Nabuco (Fundaj/MEC), and a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG). He is also an alumnus of Motriz, having been a trainee of the class 2016.1 at Vetor Brasil.
