Summary of the role
The Field Consultant will be a contract-based, full-time position located in Bangladesh for a duration of 4–6 months, with the possibility of extension based on project needs. This role is ideal for a highly motivated and dependable professional with experience in fieldwork, research coordination, or project implementation. The selected candidate will work closely with Shahi factories in Bangladesh to facilitate data collection activities, support qualitative interviews and focus group discussions (FGDs), and ensure smooth execution of field operations. The role requires strong coordination skills, stakeholder engagement experience, and the ability to manage field activities independently.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute field data collection activities, including surveys, in-depth interviews, and focus group discussions (FGDs).
- Assist the research team with questionnaire preparation, transcription, and translation as required.
- Ensure high-quality data collection in accordance with GBL standards.
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure ethical handling of data in compliance with GBL’s data protection policies.
- Develop and implement field plans, timelines, and daily resource allocation strategies.
- Conduct qualitative interviews and surveys in person and/or telephonically in line with study protocols.
- Monitor project progress, identify operational challenges, and implement timely solutions.
- Coordinate internally with research team members and externally with factory stakeholders and partner firms on a regular basis.
- Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and training survey staff, including supervisors and enumerators.
- Monitor staff performance and provide ongoing feedback and field support.
- Collaborate with factory management, workers, and clinic staff to facilitate study objectives.
- Address questions and concerns from field teams and stakeholders professionally and efficiently.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and field records.
- Prepare detailed progress reports outlining milestones, challenges, and key findings.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Social Work, Public Health, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in project management and field implementation.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Docs.
- Familiarity with SurveyCTO or similar digital data collection platforms preferred.
- Fluency in Bengali and English (spoken and written) required; Hindi proficiency is an advantage.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
- Knowledge of climate change impacts, including rising temperatures and associated effects, preferred.
