European Social Inclusion Initiative Launch Conference

Timeline:
March 26, 2019
Location:
Paris School of Economics, 48 Boulevard Jourdan, 75014 Paris, France

About a quarter of Europe’s population lives at risk of poverty and exclusion. For migrants and refugees—who often face numerous barriers to integration—the risk of poverty is even higher. While many programs have been put in place to tackle exclusion across the continent, we still know little about which approaches work best. To respond to this knowledge gap, J-PAL Europe is launching the European Social Inclusion Initiative (ESII)—a multi-year initiative that aims to generate new evidence and share emerging lessons for programs and policies seeking to foster the social inclusion of marginalized populations.

This half-day conference marks the launch of this initiative and will bring together policymakers, project implementers, researchers, and foundations from across the continent. Prof. Esther Duflo, the Abdul Latif Jameel Professor of Poverty Alleviation and Development Economics at MIT and co-founder of J-PAL, will provide the keynote speech.

The languages of the conference will be English and French, with simultaneous translation available in both languages.

This event will take place on March 26 2019 from 14:00–18:00 pm in the Amphitheater of the Paris School of Economics, 48 Boulevard Jourdan, 75014 Paris.*
