Global Research Staff Training
J-PAL’s Research Staff Training is a one-week training designed for research staff who work on randomized evaluations.

The course is taught by J-PAL and Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) senior research staff with guest lectures by J-PAL-affiliated faculty. It covers research implementation topics such as ethics, human subjects, and institutional review; questionnaire design, data collection, data management, data security, data analysis, data visualization, and communication best practices; and project, stakeholder, and financial management. The structure includes lectures, software labs, self-paced exercises, and group work.
The course is open to employees of J-PAL, IPA, and Evidence for Policy Design (EPoD), or anyone working on randomized evaluations led by J-PAL’s affiliated researchers. We also welcome any full-time staff from our network of partner research organisations (CEGA, CEPR, CERP, E2E, EPIC, Evidence Action, IFMR LEAD, LEO, Urban Labs, etc). Please contact us at [email protected] if you are interested in learning more.
Global Staff Training is offered at least three times per year: once in Kenya, once in India, and once in the United States.
