Yuen Ho is a Senior Policy Associate at J-PAL Global, where she is the manager of the Governance Initiative and supports the Political Economy and Governance sector more broadly. She also manages J-PAL policy publications, and recently published a Briefcase on The Role of the VAT for Tax Enforcement. In addition, she supports J-PAL's policy and research activities in the Middle East and North Africa.
Yuen holds an M.A. in International Economics and Relations from Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), where she specialized in development economics and received the Best Economics Student Award. She also holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her honors undergraduate thesis examined firm clustering and R&D activities in Taiwan.
Prior to joining J-PAL, Yuen worked with Innovations for Poverty Action on a randomized evaluation of a budget transparency initiative in Uganda. She has also worked as a consultant for the World Bank’s Water and Sanitation Program.
