Impact of Mental Math on Numerical Competency and Cognitive Abilities in Public Elementary Schools: A Randomized Controlled Trial

I will conduct a cluster-randomized, school-level mental math intervention with the authorization of the District Education Officer. The intervention will focus on mental activities aimed at developing mathematics skills and practicing the four basic math operations—addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division—as well as enhancing the cognitive abilities of primary school students. Rural primary schools will be randomly assigned, with 30 in the treatment group and 30 in the control group, to examine the impact of mental math. The intervention will last for 24 weeks, preceded by pre-testing and followed by post-testing of the children.
