Research Associate, J-PAL Latin America and the Caribbean

Daniel Cadena is a Research Associate at J-PAL LAC, where he works on government partnerships and rigorous impact evaluations. As a member of the Policy and Communications group, he works with governments, academics, and other stakeholders to build partnerships and advance evidence-informed policymaking. He currently contributes to the Government Partnerships – INFONAVIT initiative, including the experimental evaluation of the Solución Integral mortgage restructuring program, working closely with government counterparts to strengthen institutional capacity for the generation and use of rigorous evidence.

Prior to joining J-PAL in 2026, Daniel worked as a Parliamentary Researcher at the Cámara de Diputados in Mexico, where he supported evidence-informed legislative decision-making through the development of fiscal impact assessments. He previously served as a Public Policy Analyst at Mexico’s Ministry of Finance, evaluating federal budgetary programs under results-based budgeting frameworks and providing technical assistance to federal agencies. Earlier in his career, he worked as a Research Assistant at CONEVAL, contributing to the evaluation of social programs in education, health, and social development.

Daniel holds a master’s degree in public policy analysis methods from CIDE and a BA in economics from UNAM.
