Jessica Cohen is a Professor of Health Economics at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Her research focuses on health policy, behavioral economics, and maternal and child health, examining how health systems and programs influence maternal and newborn health outcomes in the U.S. and East Africa. She is a principal investigator on the Bridges to Primary Care study funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, leading efforts to improve postpartum care coordination for chronic and mental health conditions. Jessica’s broader research includes studying prenatal care quality, stillbirth prevention, postpartum health system engagement, and behavioral interventions to strengthen health care delivery
Jessica’s work has been widely published in leading economics and public health journals and featured in major national and international outlets. Her research on insecticide-treated bed net subsidies was recognized by Vox as a top social science paper of the decade. She has served on expert panels for the World Health Organization and National Institutes of Health and has won awards for her dedication to teaching and mentorship. Jessica’s contributions have been recognized through honors like the Alice Hamilton Award and the National Academy of Medicine Healthy Longevity Catalyst Award.
She also serves as Co-Chair of the Evidence for AI in Health (EVAH) initiative.
Jessica holds a PhD in economics from MIT.
