Research Associate, J-PAL South Asia
Sonali is a Research Associate for the Behavioral Development Lab in Chennai. She is a 2022-2023 Fulbright-Nehru Scholar and prior to joining J-PAL SA, she spent nine months during her Fulbright studying the economic development of denotified tribal women in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
Sonali graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts and double majored in Economics and Political Science with a minor in Creative Writing. She has formerly interned for the Council on Foreign Relations, the Brookings Institution, and U.S. Congress in Washington, D.C. She is passionate about expanding access to social protections and designing evidence-based interventions that examine the social preferences of remote, marginalized communities in India. Sonali is committed to utilizing an intersectional framework in her research and the formulation of economic public policy.
