Postdoctoral Research Fellow, J-PAL Latin America and the Caribbean
Alipio Ferreira is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at J-PAL LAC in the King Climate Action Initiative, based in Rio de Janeiro. His goal is to help J-PAL LAC expand its research portfolio in strategic areas of environmental policy, such as reducing Amazon deforestation and promoting sustainable agriculture practices. To do that, Alipio is developing institutional partnerships and doing matchmaking for environmental projects in Latin America.
Prior to joining J-PAL in 2022, he worked at the Finance Department of the São Paulo State Government, and later as an environmental consultant at Trinomics, in Rotterdam. He holds a Ph.D. degree in economics from Toulouse School of Economics, as well as a Masters’ degree from Tilburg University and a bachelor’s degree from São Paulo School of Economics. Alipio’s research is focused on law enforcement issues in public finance and environmental regulation in developing countries.
