Rania Fleifel
Research Associate, J-PAL Middle East and North Africa
Rania Fleifel is a Senior Research Associate at the Egypt Impact Lab (EIL). The EIL is a partnership between J-PAL Middle East and North Africa and the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development in Egypt.
She handles an evaluation examining stigma toward technical education among students and their parents, in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education. She works on the impact evaluation Targeting the Ultra-Poor (Bab Amal), based on BRAC’s graduation approach. She is also handling the early phase of a study focused on improving the livelihoods of smallholder farmers through loans that support climate-resilient agricultural practices. As part of her role at EIL, she leverages administrative datasets and supports data-centric capacity-building. Rania is the 2024 J-STARS awardee for innovative solutions and serves as the office’s Python focal point.
Prior to joining J-PAL MENA in 2023, she worked as a Research Assistant at Zewail City of Science and Technology, applying machine learning to wireless spectrum problems.
Rania holds a BSc in Electrical Engineering (Communication and Computer Engineering) from Cairo University and has fulfilled the requirements of the Master’s degree (ABD) at the same institution.
