Amalia Heide

Amalia Heide is an intern at J-PAL Europe where she supports the "Development Methodologies" Professorship held by Abhijit Banerjee and Esther Duflo, notably through the organization of the 2026 summer school for African researchers and project leaders.

Prior to joining J-PAL in 2026, Amalia served as an elected youth representative at the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development, contributing to policy discussions on sustainable development. She previously co-led Sciences Po Refugee Help at the Franco-Italian border and founded Hablemos Oficial, an international nonprofit language education program. Her research experience includes work on public education, institutional transparency and migration dynamics.

Amalia is a master’s student in International Economic Policy at Sciences Po Paris and holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Humanities from the same university. She is the recipient of the Excellence-Major and the Emile Boutmy scholarships.
