Lucas Kaplan

Instructional Designer, J-PAL North America
Lucas Kaplan is a Senior Training Associate at J-PAL North America where serves as an instructional designer for the Economics Transformation Project (ETP). In this role, he creates curriculum and leads workshops for high school students with the aim of expanding opportunities for underrepresented minority (URM) students in economics.
Prior to joining J-PAL in January 2022, Luke worked as a social studies teacher at Excel Academy Charter High School where he founded an economics program for predominantly immigrant youth in East Boston. Lucas holds an MS in Applied Economics from Boston College, an MEd from Boston University, a BA in Government from St. Lawrence University, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Economics at Syracuse University.
