Matthew Kraft is an Associate Professor of Education and Economics at Brown University, where he founded and now serves as Faculty Director of SustainableED.

Matthew is also a research associate at the National Bureau of Economics and served as a senior economist on the White House Council of Economic Advisors from 2024-2025. He is affiliated with the Institute of Labor Economics (IZA), the Center for Economic Studies (CESifo), and the Esade Center for Economic Policy. He is the recipient of the American Educational Research Association (AERA) Outstanding Public Communication Award, the Society for Educational Effectiveness Early Career Award, and the William T. Grant Early Career Scholar Award.

Matthew holds an EdD in quantitative policy analysis of education from Harvard University.
