Research Associate, J-PAL Southeast Asia

Muthia is a Research Associate at J-PAL Southeast Asia. As a part of the research team, she currently works on a full-scale randomized controlled trial (RCT) focused on agent branchless banking in Indonesia.

Prior to joining J-PAL in 2025, she was engaged as a poverty economist consultant at the World Bank and served as a graduate research assistant, where her work focused on RCTs. Over the past three years, she has been involved in data analysis and A/B testing experimentation to support an evidence-based technology product. Her work has been driven by an interest in applying experimental and analytical methods to strengthen government policies and programs in poverty reduction and economic development.

Muthia holds a Master of Arts in quantitative social sciences from Columbia University with a specialization in economics and statistics.
