Senapati Pratik
Research Associate, J-PAL South Asia
Senapati Pratik is a Research Associate at J-PAL South Asia at IFMR, based in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, where he works on the Safe Drinking Water Project, which evaluates perceptions of chlorinated water in India across Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, and Rayagada, Odisha. As a member of the Research vertical, Pratik manages field operations and data for randomized evaluations, including survey design, field team supervision, real-time data quality checks, and preparation of analysis-ready datasets in Stata and R.
Prior to joining J-PAL, Pratik worked in public health research, with experience spanning nutrition, health systems, and infectious disease. Most recently, he worked as a Project Research Scientist at the ICMR–National Institute of Nutrition in Hyderabad on a cluster-randomised nutrition and lifestyle risk surveillance study for schools and colleges, alongside research consultancy work with BITS Pilani Hyderabad on coastal resilience. He previously worked as a Project Officer at IIPS Mumbai, evaluating the Odisha Health Management Information System, and as a research intern at the Public Health Foundation of India, analysing malaria control programmes in Odisha.
Pratik holds an MSc in Biostatistics and Demography from IIPS Mumbai and a BSc in Statistics from Ravenshaw University.
