Farah Sami is a Research Associate at J-PAL Middle East and North Africa at the American University in Cairo where she works on evaluating the social costs of debtors’ prisons and the financial market impacts of their abolition in Egypt, as well as assessing the impact of a nursing training program for young women in Southern Egypt.

Prior to joining J-PAL in 2024, she worked as a Monitoring Intern at the World Food Programme's Regional Bureau in Cairo.

Farah holds a Master's degree in Development Economics from the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and a Bachelor's degree in Economics from both Cairo University and Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University.
