Maria Sedhom is a Research Associate at J-PAL Middle East and North Africa, where she works on evaluating the impact of providing jobs and training opportunities on irregular migration in Egypt, in collaboration with the Egyptian Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA).

Prior to J-PAL, Maria’s work experience includes serving as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Toronto, where she invigilated exams and provided full feedback repositories for over 500 students promptly. She also worked as a Client Service Representative at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, where she managed client problems and escalations with their accounts and products.

Maria holds a Master's degree and Bachelor's degree in Economics and Biology for Health Sciences, both from the University of Toronto. Her educational background reflects her interests in both economics and health sciences, and how these fields intersect in addressing global challenges.
