Senior Research Associate, J-PAL Middle East and North Africa

Abdullah Tarek is a Senior Research Associate at J-PAL Middle East and North Africa, where he works on the Nurseries 2, the Standing Panel on Impact Assessment, and the Sustainable Transformation for Agricultural Resilience in Upper Egypt (STAR) projects.

Prior to joining J-PAL in 2026, he worked at the International Food Policy Research Institute, contributing to multiple national data collection efforts, a large-scale census, and several research publications across Egypt and the MENA region.

Abdullah holds a double bachelor’s degree in Economics from Cairo University and Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, as well as a Master’s degree in Development Economics from Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, where he graduated with distinction.
