Research Manager, J-PAL South Asia

Pratik is a Research Manager at JPAL South Asia where he supports projects in education and governance under RISE and CEGIS-JPAL partnership. Before joining JPAL South Asia, Pratik worked for six years in the health and education domains in India.

His first professional stint was with SEARCH, a non-profit working in the resource-constrained Gadchiroli district in central India. There he led the monitoring efforts of a district-wide program to reduce expenditure on alcohol and tobacco consumption in the district. The ambitious program was a collaboration between SEARCH, the State Government of Maharashtra, and Tata Trusts.

Afterward, he worked with the ASER Centre, the independent research wing of Pratham Education Foundation. He supported the design and implementation of a randomized controlled trial in collaboration with the University of Cambridge, UK. The study followed a cohort of 24000 children in rural Uttar Pradesh to assess the impact of improved school-community relationships on children’s foundational learning outcomes.

Pratik has a bachelor’s degree in engineering and has recently finished his MPP degree from the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy.
