About the role

Gaurav Chiplunkar (University of Virginia), Ashwini Deshpande (Ashoka University), Shantanu Khanna (Northeastern University), and Anisha Sharma (Ashoka University) seek a Research Assistant based in Delhi, India with required travel to Jaipur.

The position will offer the opportunity to gain first-hand research management experience (e.g., data analysis managing field operations, interacting with partner organizations) as well as the opportunity to undertake cutting-edge development research and implement a randomized controlled trial.

Project description

This project aims to understand and evaluate AI-driven digital solutions to improve worker satisfaction and retention at the workplace. It involves surveys and experiments with employees of a large Indian firm to measure the impact of AI-driven models that can measure workplace satisfaction, identify potential need for resolutions, and hence improve employee satisfaction and retention at the workplace.

Responsibilities

  • We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about research and fieldwork, who can work independently, who is enthusiastic, proactive and able to learn quickly in a changing environment.
  • Responsibilities will include data cleaning and econometric analysis, as well as assisting with data collection activities, designing survey instruments, preparing training materials for surveys, and conducting literature reviews.
  • The candidate should have excellent communication skills (both written and oral) and good time management skills. The candidate will also be expected to manage key partners, and travel to Jaipur to monitor field activities.
  • The candidate would be expected to undertake frequent travel to Jaipur based on the phase of the project.
  • They should also be able to manage relationships with stakeholders and manage timely communications across teams. 

Desired qualifications

  • We are looking for someone who can lead primary data collection activities and be comfortable operating across multiple field locations.
  • BA or Masters degree in economics, public policy/administration, or related fields are preferred.
  • Knowledge of Stata, Latex, Survey CTO will be preferred, along with those with prior experience (if any) in projects involving data collection and program implementation in the field.
  • Given the location of our implementation partner, the candidate should be willing to travel for extended periods of time to Jaipur as required by the project to meet with relevant stakeholders and officials.
  • Strong communication skills in English is required and Hindi is preferred. 
  • The candidate must have work authorization in India.
