Sanjana Gorti, Lead – Air & Water Labs, J-PAL South Asia, presents SARWA research findings during the EEAP Webinar on energy efficiency in the Asia Pacific

On 28 May 2025, the Energy Evaluation Asia Pacific (EEAP) hosted its 18th webinar, focusing on the evaluation of energy efficiency initiatives in the Asia Pacific region. The discussion centered on the role of technologies, behavior change, and rigorous evidence in shaping effective energy policy.

J-PAL South Asia’s SARWA (Solutions and Advancements through Research for Air and Water) initiative was represented by Sanjana Gorti, Lead – Air & Water Labs, J-PAL South Asia, who shared insights from randomized evaluations conducted in the region. Her presentation highlighted how interventions such as behavioral nudges, smart metering, and time-of-use electricity pricing can significantly influence energy consumption patterns. She also emphasized the importance of evaluating both the intended and unintended impacts of energy efficiency programs, especially in the context of large-scale implementation.

The webinar, attended by 55 participants from across sectors, underscored the value of collaboration between researchers, governments, and civil society to build data-driven, impactful energy solutions. A recording of the session is now available online.
