SARWA at Environment Conclave 2025

On 7 June 2025, J-PAL South Asia participated in the Environment Conclave 2025 in Surat, Gujarat. The event was organized by the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry in partnership with the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) to foster dialogue on sustainable development, regulatory innovation, and environmental responsibility in India.
Sanjana Gorti, Lead – Air & Water Labs, J-PAL South Asia, spoke about J-PAL’s ongoing work in Gujarat, including over 15 years of research on environmental regulation and evidence-informed policy design. Her talk highlighted how the SARWA (Solutions and Advancements through Research for Air and Water) initiative is building on this foundation through a dedicated Air and Water Lab in partnership with GPCB. She also discussed how firms can benefit from engaging with evidence-based environmental policy and innovative regulatory approaches.
The conclave saw participation from senior officials from the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, and GPCB, and drew an audience of over 600 attendees across government, industry, and civil society.
