SARWA Featured at Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2024: MoU Signed to Advance Clean Air and Water Initiatives

J-PAL South Asia participated in the Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2024—India’s premier biennial summit convening national and global leaders, policymakers, and industry experts to advance investment, innovation, and sustainable development.

At the summit, J-PAL South Asia signed a Memorandum of Understanding under the Solutions and Advancements through Research for Air and Water (SARWA) initiative. The ceremony was held in the presence of Shri Mulubhai Bera, Hon’ble Minister of Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Government of Gujarat, and Shri Mukeshbhai Patel, Hon’ble Minister of State for Forest and Environment.

J-PAL’s booth showcased pioneering work under SARWA, including the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) piloted in Gujarat—the world’s first market-based regulation for particulate pollution. More than 70 representatives from government bodies and partner organizations engaged with the booth, learning about the initiative’s potential to support clean air and water policymaking across India.
