Biometric tracking of health workers attendance and maternal and child health outcomes in rural Nigeria
This project investigates the effects of biometric tracking on health workers’ absenteeism and its impact on maternal and child health outcomes in rural Nigeria. Using a randomized evaluation, biometric devices, such as fingerprint scanners, will be introduced in rural primary healthcare facilities to track workers' attendance. The project aims to assess whether biometric tracking can reduce absenteeism and improve health outcomes in underserved areas. This research contributes to the literature on health systems strengthening and offers policy insights to improve healthcare delivery in developing countries. Further, the findings will help address the challenge of absenteeism in rural health systems and support efforts to build a sustainable healthcare delivery system in Nigeria.
