Digital Identification Systems, Digital Financial Services and Household Welfare in Ghana
This proposal explores the adoption of the biometric Ghana Card, a critical tool for accessing government services and financial transactions. Despite high national registration rates, marginalized and low-income populations face significant non-cost barriers, such as literacy challenges and inaccessible documentation requirements, hindering adoption. The research seeks to conduct a pilot study to identify these barriers and provide gender-specific interventions. By generating baseline socioeconomic data, this project aims to track the impact of interventions on financial inclusion and welfare. The findings could inform larger-scale efforts to promote inclusive adoption of the Ghana Card and address potential voter exclusion.
