Digital Input Value Chains And Farmer Credit: A Proposal In Collaboration With The Rwandan Agricultural Board
This project explores whether digitizing Rwanda’s agricultural input value chain can improve smallholder farmers’ access to credit. In collaboration with the Rwandan Agricultural Board, the research aims to enhance the government’s Smart Nkunganire System (SNS), a platform for tracking fertilizer distribution, by developing a digital credit scoring model and assessing the feasibility of a randomized evaluation. The study seeks to identify the institutional, technical, and design considerations needed to integrate digital credit services into the agricultural input system and strengthen financial access for smallholder farmers.
