Improving the Effectiveness of Technology-enabled Continuous Professional Development in Tanzania

This partnership between the Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE) and J-PAL affiliated researchers will support the development of effective materials to be scaled by a large World Bank funded ICT-based continuous professional development program in secondary schools. In particular, the project proposes to leverage global evidence on teacher professional development to support TIE in three main areas: i) identify content and pedagogical training needs; ii) using qualitative interviews and structured surveys assess the quality of the range of digital content produced iii) identify frictions related to interactions with the electronic Learning Management System; iv) share findings at each stage of the iterative process with a broad set of actors.
