UJALA Customized Training Program for Farmer-Centric Initiative Leads
Overview
UJALA hosted a three-day, in-person training at the Africa Business School (ABS), University Mohammed VI Polytechnic (UM6P), in Rabat, Morocco. This event brought together partners from OCP Africa country offices to equip them with the tools to integrate rigorous impact evaluation into program design, implementation, and results interpretation. This event also at fostering clearer communication and shared understanding between researchers and implementers.
The training combined core lectures on randomized evaluations with interactive, practice-oriented sessions tailored to implementation realities. Participants were organized into small groups to design mini-projects, allowing them to apply the methods and insights from the earlier sessions to practical research and implementation challenges.
Program Focus
The 2025 edition focused on building a shared foundation in randomized controlled trials (RCTs) among implementing partners in sub-Saharan Africa. As an invitation-only onboarding program, it aimed to strengthen understanding of how RCTs work, why they matter for policy and programming, and how implementing offices contribute to rigorous and credible evaluations.
The program emphasized:
- Core principles and logic of randomized controlled trials
- Understanding impact pathways and evaluation design
- Data requirements, sampling concepts, and measurement frameworks
- The role of implementing offices in supporting high-quality research
- Establishing a common technical language to facilitate effective collaboration between researchers and partners
