Paola Elice
Senior Research Manager, Morocco Innovation and Evaluation Lab, J-PAL Middle East and North Africa
Paola Elice is a Senior Research Manager at the Morocco Innovation and Evaluation Lab (MEL), where she is responsible for developing and coordinating the Lab's research infrastructure and upholding rigorous research quality standards across projects.
Prior to joining the MEL, Paola worked as an Impact Evaluation and Policy Specialist in the Fragility, Conflict and Violence unit of the World Bank, where she oversaw a portfolio of impact evaluations and coordinated policy activities across sectors (education, health, social protection, jobs, social cohesion, and gender) for a global research program on forced displacement, a partnership between the World Bank, the UNHCR, and the UK Government. Previously, she worked as an Impact Evaluation Consultant for the Development Impact Evaluation Unit (DIME), based in Senegal, where she coordinated impact evaluations in the urban transport sector.
Before joining the World Bank, Paola worked as a Research Manager at Innovations for Poverty Action in Uganda, where she supported a portfolio of projects across sectors, and previously she worked as a Research Coordinator for a large impact evaluation project in the health governance sector.
Paola holds a Bachelor Degree in Economics and Social Sciences from the University of Commerce Luigi Bocconi (Italy) and a Master of Science in Development Economics from the Barcelona School of Economics (Spain). She works in English, French, Spanish, and Italian.
