Sendhil Mullainathan is a University Professor, Professor of Computation and Behavioral Science, and George C. Tiao Faculty Fellow at Chicago Booth. He is the recipient of a MacArthur "genius" award and has conducted a randomized evaluation of racial bias in hiring in the US. He has also examined the impact of cash transfers to the elderly in South Africa. Prior to joining Booth, Sendhil was the Robert C. Waggoner Professor of Economics in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Harvard University, where he taught courses about machine learning and big data. 

Sendhil is a co-founder of J-PAL with Abhijit Banerjee and Esther Duflo, and has served as a lecturer at J-PAL training events.

He began his academic career at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
