The Effects of Improved Primary Healthcare Provision on Female Labor Force Participation: Evidence from India

In this project, we want to explore whether improving public primary healthcare increases female labor force participation (FLP) and women's economic agency in rural Rajasthan. We will collaborate with the Government of Rajasthan to investigate the effects of the health and wellness center reform on FLP and other patient outcomes. In addition to exploiting the staggered rollout strategy of the reform with a difference-in-difference strategy, we are currently assessing whether we can randomize an awareness campaign that will inform households about the new services that are available at the upgraded subcenters.
