Pennsylvania Governor's Office of Policy and Planning

Pennsylvania uses a Recovery-Oriented System of Care, which integrates substance use disorder treatment services into a single, seamless continuum of care. The continuum of care in Pennsylvania includes 10 distinct types of service distributed across five levels of care. The Governor’s Office of Policy and Planning is partnering with J-PAL North America to design a randomized evaluation to assess the relative effectiveness of several different types of services for individuals with opioid use disorders engaged in medication-assisted treatment (MAT). Through this evaluation, the Commonwealth seeks to understand the impact of different treatment options on hospitalizations, arrests and criminal convictions, opioid usage, and subsequent episodes of care.
