Associate, J-PAL Latin America and the Caribbean

Valentina Andrade is a Research Associate at J-PAL Latin America and the Caribbean, where she is currently collaborating with Nano Barahona, Sebastián Otero, and Tomás Larroucau on a project focused on affirmative actions in higher education in Chile. This research aligns with her interests in labor, education, and microeconometrics.

Before joining J-PAL in August 2022, Valentina was involved in several research initiatives. These included studies on the feminization of unions, gender wage gaps, informality, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on labor outcomes.

Valentina holds a Masters in Economics from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and a Bachelors in Sociology from Universidad de Chile.

In terms of academic achievements, Valentina has been awarded the Academic Excellence Scholarship for Masters Studies by ANID, the Government of Chile, in 2021. She also received the Highest National Score from the same institution and the R Diversity Scholarships from R Studio in 2021.
