Senior Policy Manager, J-PAL Middle East and North Africa

Lobna Kassim is a Senior Policy Manager at J-PAL Middle East and North Africa where she works on translating research into action and promoting a culture of evidence-informed policymaking to help governments, donors, practitioners and NGOs in applying evidence from randomized evaluations to their work. She is the sector specialist for labor markets, firms, and finance and is helping to lead the development of the Egypt Impact Lab, hosted by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development. Prior to joining J-PAL in 2020, she worked at the International Labour Organization as Impact Research and Knowledge Management Officer in the regional TAQEEM Initiative, where she was certified as Evaluation Manager. She has also worked at the World Bank, United Nations Development Programme, and Youth Employment Network. Lobna holds a master’s degree in applied labour economics for development from Sciences Po Paris and the Turin School for Development, and has completed the coursework for the innovation, economics and governance for development PhD program in UNU-MERIT.
