Mariam Youssef
Policy Associate, J-PAL Middle East and North Africa
Mariam Youssef is a Policy, Training, and Events Associate at J-PAL MENA based at the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development under the Egypt Impact Lab, where she supports the Social Protection and Environment, Energy, and Climate Change sectors. In this role, she works closely with policymakers, donors, and practitioners to facilitate the use of rigorous evidence in the planning and execution of development programs and to identify possibilities for new impact evaluations that will yield fresh knowledge about what influences outcomes.
Prior to joining J-PAL MENA in 2023, she worked at the Egyptian Competition Authority, Cabinet of Ministers in various projects promoting competitive neutrality in the Egyptian markets.
Mariam holds a Master's degree in Development Economics from the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne. Prior to that, she earned a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the French section of the Faculty of Economics and Political Sciences at Cairo University, in collaboration with the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne.
