Florian Straumann works as Policy Associate at the Santiago, Chile office for J-PAL Latin America & the Caribbean. He supports various efforts that are focused on promoting evidence-based policies.
He is currently coordinating research agendas that will generate and enhance the use of evidence for relevant policy issues in the region, and supporting governments to develop internal processes that ensure a systematic and autonomous use of evidence in designing public policies.
Prior to joining J-PAL LAC, Florian worked as part of the Swiss Civilian Service at the Welfare Office Basel (CH), with the objective to support and facilitate the integration of refugees and asylum seekers into the Swiss labor market. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and geography from the University of Zurich and Geneva.
