Digitization Effects In Equilibrium
This project examines how digitizing business-to-business (B2B) payments can influence supply chains and local economies among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in rural Ghana, where the broader impacts of digital finance remain under explored. Focusing on garment and textile producers in Kwabre East and Juaben, key hubs for Kente and Adinkra cloth, researchers are testing three approaches to encourage digital payment use between businesses and their suppliers. The study maps SME networks, tracks adoption of digital tools, and identifies early spillover effects. Findings will inform partnerships and guide a future randomized evaluation on the system-wide impacts of digital trade.
